bear = sunshine

Went looking for sunshine today. Found big black Bear instead. Sweet boy followed me all over the yard while I took pictures. Then we went for a walk. I have so much gratitude for my Fridays.
Other news, three little rusts and their mama have dental cleaning appointments today. I need to pull out my brave face and just get it done. Dentist visits are not my favorite, and I don't want to project my dread on to the kids. Wish me lots of luck. :)

potholders no pictures
Today we made potholders w/ Nana. But I forgot to take a picture of that. It was a nice lazy Friday filled with sewing, home depot, and the card game I declare war.

tooth fairy and more Bear
The tooth hung by a thread for a week.
It won't be long before Bear will be too big for Luke to carry.
It came out the other day thanks to daddy's expert tooth pulling.

Luke has been keeping close tabs on our little Bear. I have been enjoying coming home for lunch to take photos of him. :)

one month - some favorites
We made it through the gauntlet of birthdays! Jason, Caleb, and Cate are all one year older, one week apart each. Summer arrived! Our furnace/AC died just in time for the 90 degree heat! Our beloved Aunnie Manny came to visit! School came to an end! We got two fun visits with the Boston Bicks in Seattle! Liz from Alaska came for the weekend, we showed her the beach and went shopping! All not in that order, and I am missing a bunch of little stuff in between. Life is good and busy, but I am recommitting to updating my blog - once a week at least. (yes, mom, I really am going to try!!)
Here are a few of my faves from the last month - not in the right order...

Berry pickers! The only one missing is Jason. The you pick farm we go to has a "pick as many as you want and eat them for free" policy. This is delicious. And makes it fun for the kids. Cobbler and homemade ice cream were made with our haul.
Like herding cats.
ok, this one is better.
Caleb giving Uncle Jeff's back a break. In spite of his frown... this was fun for him.
We ate lunch on pier 62/3 while the cousins warmed up to each other and ran their wiggles out.
Almost broke tradition because I forgot to take a photo - Cate the last day she was five.
Happy six year old. All she wanted was a bike and a basket to hold her babies in.
Cate had a Strawberry Moshi party. Strawberry Moshi is a book she really enjoys.

on the last day he was 11
He tried to grow a mustache...**
And all day Sunday was full of .. "this is the last time I do this as an 11 year old."
And as soon as our sweet unshaven 11 year old went to bed, Jason and I assembled Caleb's new birthday desk and bookshelf. The boys slept while we arranged the new furniture in their room. :) This was just the first surprise for the birthday boy.
**disclaimer.. I think this photo was taken a few days before the last day he was 11.
here is the real one.

2000 miles and 65 years
About 2000 miles from Portland, Papa had a birthday. So while dad was feasting on meatloaf and carrot cake, we celebrated with cupcakes right before bed... on a school NIGHT.
Craziness and a sugar high ensued.....here is the proof.
Go to bed Three little Rusts! Don't make a mess Three little Rusts! It is time to give your mama a break!
But first, wish your papa a very happy birthday. Hope your day was a good one Dad!

Which one do you like better?
The sun decided to shine today.
The kids are actually playing outside - and not standing under umbrellas.
Happy Easter!

At the bus stop - morning edition
We actually got to the bus stop in enough time to take a photo. That's a good sign for a Tuesday morning. :)

Love
Love is preparing a delicious dinner for two and watching a movie together after your swarm of overly sugared up children are put down for bed for the night.

43 and raining
The sun went away again.... the rain is back. Cate got off the bus in a really good mood. I love it when she has had a good day at school.
In spite of the rain, this winter has been pretty mild. The daffodils are starting to sprout out of the ground already!

sunday family of five
A lot of things lined up yesterday afternoon. Jason was home, and it was his short week! The sun was so happy and sunny, and WARM. And Caleb had a performance for his choir that he did really really well in. It is so nice when everything comes together like that.

lacrosse camp
Cate and Luke went to their first lacrosse camp this morning. Both were really nervous to start with, and ended up loving it by the end. Yay! This afternoon we are going to the sports store to get sticks for the two of them so they can practice up for next Saturday.
